Jay McGrath is Evolution’s Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Financial Planning and Analysis. He joined the firm in October 2022. Jay has over 20 years of experience managing people, processes, and projects in operations, finance, and compliance across both public and private markets.

Prior to joining Evolution, Jay was the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for a Boston based hedge fund, where he handled all aspects of the business operations for three+ years. Prior to the hedge fund, Jay was the Vice President of Finance at Benefit Street Partners, a private-credit focused firm, where he managed the daily operations of the finance team and focused on growing the firm. Prior to that, Jay spent over nine years as the Vice President of Finance & Investment Operations at Harvard Management Company. In this role, Jay managed teams and was responsible for streamlining all back-office finance and operations functions. Jay also led a firm-wide portfolio of projects for several years and served on the liquidity management committee. Earlier in his career, Jay held accounting and operations roles in multiple divisions at State Street Corporation. Initially, he was responsible for supporting the funds of State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) and later joined SSGA directly supporting a team of portfolio managers. Due to his early success, he was appointed to help launch the capital management division of SSGA, where he was responsible for building out the initial infrastructure and establishing accounting, operational and reporting procedures.

Jay graduated from Providence College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
